Hello Crafters!
I inherited my love of crafting from my mom. I spent my youth watching her make things and learned that I enjoyed making things as well! I made my first stuffed animal when I was 8 years old. It was a stuffed bunny to match the homemade bunny costume my mom made me for Halloween. I also spent many hours making small animals out of clay. I ended up with a gigantic collection that I saved them for years! I learned to crochet before I was ten, although I mostly made uneven edged pot holders. Eventually, I gained momentum with crocheting. I made 30+ scarves for Christmas one year in college. A couple of years later, I made 30+ hats just because I was having fun finding and trying new patterns (*wink*wink*I still have some for sale!). Needless to say, when I find a project I enjoy, I tend to go overboard. That’s why the Creatives for Sale page will always be full of finished products.
Now, as an adult, I have used creativity as an outlet to express myself. I like to joke that it is how I maintain my mental health. I worked with developmentally disabled adults for many years and having a fun outlet for the stress was integral. I have recently been laid off and am trying my hand at pursuing this dream to craft for a living! I have managed apartment buildings on the side for many years and continue to learn people and maintenance skills through this side hustle.
I have been inspired to create through many people, mediums, and events over the years. I have found an outlet for my creativity in the Burning Man scene; it has led to costumes, ridiculous hats, and hundreds of items to gift to the community at each event. I find a lot of my inspiration searching for crafts to make that I can give as presents to the people in my life.
